Alston Moor Business Association (AMBA) is a membership organisation representing the interests of the many and diverse businesses operating from Alston Moor. As a remote community it’s vital that businesses work collaboratively internally on Alston Moor, and in our communications with organisations who service Alston Moor. In doing this we will maximise the impact and success we can achieve.
AMBA is the lead organisation for marketing Alston Moor as a visitor destination. The committee are active in promoting Alston Moor through various channels, and establishing links with others such as Eden Tourism Team and the AONB. AMBA has funded the external costs of hosting this visitor website, and committee members develop and maintain the content on a voluntary basis. Recognising the importance of promoting the area as a walking destination, AMBA has enabled Alston Moor to maintain its accreditation as a Walkers Are Welcome town by offering some financial support towards that. We are very lucky to have hard working volunteers, in and out of business, who give up their time to help promote Alston Moor.
Of course, not all AMBA members are in the visitor economy sector and we undertake a range of activities to support the wider membership. All members benefit from regular email updates with items of interest, and occasional networking events. AMBA volunteers represent businesses on committees such as the Alston Moor Traffic Management Group and the Alston Moor Partnership, making sure businesses have their say.
The elected committee members of AMBA put an incredible amount of their own time into representing members’ interests. We hope that if you are not a member you will consider joining. The cost is just £15 a year, and as well as the benefits outlined above, members have a free business listing on this website. Please contact Janis Goodfellow at Hi-
