Alston has a fabulous array of independent shopping establishments. The only ‘high street’ names are the Co-op and Spar stores. So if you want big name brands, like a lot of other tourist destinations, you’ll be disappointed. If on the other hand you want something different to the mainstream then you’re in for a lovely surprise!
